Lichinga
Lichinga, formerly known in the Portuguese colonial era as Vila Cabral, is the capital of Niassa Province. It is here that 75,000 of the Province's 756,000 inhabitants live.
Lichinga is also the main gateway to the Mozambican side of the lake.
The town is located at Lichinga plateau, which is part of the famous African 'The Rift Valley' that comprises Great African Lakes and the escarpment running from Djibouti to lake Niassa.
Chipandje Chetu Conservation Area, Uzuzu Camp
The closest 'game park' to Lichinga. 150 km north of Lichinga in Sanga districts the closest game viewing option for travelers in and around Lichinga Chipandje Chetu wildlife conservation area.
As it is situated just outside one of the Niassa reserves buffer zones, it shares a lot of its wildlife with the park. The conservation area is home to elephants, lions, leopard buffalo and a variety of antelopes including the rare sable antelope and eland.

Trophy hunters from around the world visit this unique game and hunting reserve on the fringe of Niassa Reserve. The tent-ed camp lodge can only be visited if booked in advance and specifically with the objective of participating in a hunting safari.
Luwire is run by the Rani group, also owners of the famous beach lodge in Pemba bay. The lodge manager is an experienced hunter and wildlife manager who acts as your hunting guide.
