In Mozambique it is only possible to obtain grant of land. The land can be granted for a period of 50 years, renewable for equal period. A farmer must pay an annual grant to the Government. This rate depends on the province where the person wishes to explore the land and ranges from 1.5 to 3 U.S. $ per hectare and year. A foreigner can not directly request the granting of land - it must do so through a company registered in Mozambique. However, it can hold 100 percent of the shares in that company. The second condition requires that if a foreigner when it asks for the grant of land is to have an investment authorized by the Investment Promotion Center (CPI). It required a minimum of U.S. $ 50 000 to obtain the authorization, the same can be done in cash or property. Goods may be imported at preferential rates. If a farmer identifies an area in which I would like to practice agriculture and to obtain information from government authorities that it is free, it will produce a business plan. This plan must describe your investment, the expected revenues, the number of jobs that will create, etc.. To ensure that the land is not occupied or used by local farmers is required to submit at least three witnesses who confirm that this land is free. After that, it sends a provisional granting valid for a maximum period of 5 years or 3 years for foreigners. If the farmer does not comply with his commitment within that time loses the provisional granting of land. Please note that the Nakosso provides its services completely in accordance with law.
