Chipandje Chetu Conservation Area, Uzuzu Camp

The closest 'game park' to Lichinga

150 km north of Lichinga in Sanga districts the closest game viewing option for travelers in and around Lichinga Chipandje Chetu wildlife conservation area.

As it is situated just outside one of the Niassa reserves buffer zones, it shares a lot of its wildlife with the park. The conservation area is home to elephants, lions, leopard buffalo and a variety of antelopes including the rare sable antelope and eland.

Due to the rivers cutting through Chipandje Chetu's 6,000 km_, the place is excellent for bird watching especially waterfowls. Chipandje Chetu is still a rather young project so the camp, Uzuzu, that lies in the middle of the area is rather basic, but enough if you want wilderness instead of the tamed.

It is a tented camp and it mainly hosts trophy hunters, as one operator has initiated seasonal hunting safaris in the area. Entering Chipandje Chetu and staying at Uzuzu has to be arranged beforehand with the Provincial administration of forest and wildlife in Lichinga.
