Famous investors, such as Rani Africa, have started to renovate tourist attractions that were destroyed during the civil war. From the early nineties until today the number of tourist visiting Mozambique each year has increased rapidly from 10 000 to more than 150 000 per year. The northern part of the country sees more European tourists, while the southern part attracts a lot of South Africans. Around the Lake Niassa there are several lodges that can offer good accommodation for you.

They can also arrange transport for you with a driver for US$ 50-100 per day, depending on distance and road conditions. Popular among local expats and visiting consultants is to spend a long weekend in Mandawilderness: Saturday up with the Ilala steamer and Tuesday back.
